Varese - “La Finestra Socchiusa” is born between Varese and Zurich, the podcast to talk about climate without judgments - - Varese News

Talking clearly about the present, thinking with hope about the future. Involving experts, but also collecting voices and thoughts from all of us. This is the desire behind the new podcast La Finestra Socchiusa , created by two young people from Varese: Alba Sicher and Riccardo Salerno .
Alba is the voice and soul of the project, while Riccardo takes care of the sound design and the social part. They have known each other since the Ferraris high school, where they were classmates. Alba grew up in Masnago, where she volunteered between the oratory and the nursery school; Riccardo comes from Giubiano and for years played basketball in the Robur youth team. They are approaching the end of high school, got married two years ago , and today they live in Zurich, where Alba completed a doctorate and where Riccardo joined her. They dream, in a couple of years, of returning to Italy – and maybe even a little closer to their families.
The podcast was born from a shared urgency: to do more for the climate , but in an accessible, inclusive, human way. «We realized – they explain – that the conversation on climate is often trapped in specialized bubbles. Instead in Italy, despite everything, there is interest: the European polls say it clearly. But it is not visible. Too often it seems that climate action is something for experts, for activists. We want to show that this is not the case: anyone, with any story, can make a difference. All you have to do is open a window».
A window – indeed – ajar. The name was chosen after months of reflection. «We wanted to convey both urgency and hope – says Alba – The window is no longer wide open: it is too late to save everything. But it is not closed either. There is still time, even if little, to make choices that matter. Only today do we have this power».
Active for years in climate communication and environmental volunteering, Alba collaborates with various international organizations, including the Italian Climate Network and The Climate Reality Project , founded by former US Vice President Al Gore. The podcast, however, is deliberately designed for those who are not “already in”: for those who know there is a problem, but don't know where to start.

"We are used to feeling guilty," he says, "but it's not our fault. It's not that of ordinary citizens. It's that of those who made destructive decisions knowing full well what they were doing. We, on the other hand, have a responsibility : like when you meet a person who is bleeding in the street. Even if you didn't hurt them, you have the duty to help."
In the podcast, each episode intertwines stories, voices and visions: from teachers to artists, from neighbors to restaurant experts. No preaching, just the desire to highlight how many different ways there are to contribute . "When they tell you there are no solutions, it's a lie. We can't do everything, but we can do enough. And we need everyone."
La Finestra Aschiusa is available on Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts. A new episode every Friday.
